Physical description
Spade money coin that is a rectangular shape with a widening polygon that has a hole punched in it. There is a slightly raised lip around the edge. The face of the rectangular segment has four characters divided by a line at the centre and a slight cleave at the centre of the edge. Da bu (right side-top, bottom) huang qian (left side-top, bottom), meaning large spade, by authority 1,000, in seal script. The reverse is also divided in half, but has no characters.
