Narrative

Raised outdoors on the museum grounds in 1980, but in 2020 the pole had to be removed due to instability. In 2024 it was raised inside the museum's great hall, with the wolf from the top beside the base, due to wood degradation.

Physical description

Unpainted, bilaterally symmetrical pole with flat back. Figures from top: uncarved top section; mosquito figure, with u shaped ears, eyes that bulge at top and are inset at base, straight downward pointed proboscis has bared teeth, wings held next to body have ovoid and u decoration, three sets of bent legs, feet rest on whale's head; killer whale has dorsal fin protruding from between mosquito's legs, blow hole below dorsal fin, ovoid eyes, bared upper teeth, pectoral fins next to body have ovoid and u decoration; small seated female figure (wife of Nanasimget) with hands resting on lap between whale's head and tail flukes; between flukes is the upper portion of a male figure (Nanasimget) with bent arms, head rests on curled hands; last figure is a frog with a small frog in its mouth, with its fore and hind limbs bent and resting on front of body. Horizontally carved wolf from the top of the pole is now removed and sitting beside it: running wolf, with bent limbs extended to front and back, wedge shaped head over forelimbs, with bared teeth and protruding tongue.
