Adão de Castro Almeida is a Portuguese mask maker. The mask makers of Lazarim have their own unique individual styles and distinctive repertoire of character types. Many of Adão de Castro Almeida’s fine carvings focus on popular Carnavelesque characters including devils, animals, Christ and authority figures.
