Johnson, Herbert (1896 - 1953)

Chief Herbert Johnson was the Head Hereditary Chief of Wakeman Sound Haxwa’mis. The Wakeman Sound Haxwa’mis are 1 of the 4 groups that make up the Musgamagw Dzawada’enuxw people: the Dzawada’enuxw (Kingcome), Kwikwasutinexw (Gilford Island), Gwawa’enuxw (Hopetown), and Ha̲xwa’mis (Wakeman Sound). Herbert Johnson lived at Kingcome Inlet, but was from Wakeman Sound. Gilford Island and Wakeman Sound amalgamated, but Johnson's hereditary chieftainship comes from Wakeman sound.
