Pigott, Gwyn Hanssen (1935 - 2013)

Gwyn Hanssen Pigott OAM was a well-known Australian ceramic artist. She was born Gwynion Lawrie John in Ballarat, Australia; she received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne in 1954. Shortly afterwards she began making ceramics, working and living in various places around the world, including England, France and Tasmania. In 2012 she created an exhibition at MOA called "Pleased to Meet You: Introductions by Gwyn Hanssen Pigott"; in 2013 she died in London, while working on a new exhibition.
