Iconographic meaning
The shape of this stove tile is reminiscent of the bowl from which it evolved. IHS, which is a monogram for Jesus, is inscribed between a cross and heart in the well of the tile.

Physical description
Square, green earthenware stove tile on flat circular base with deep well, flared sides and square rim. In the well centre is a circular medallion in relief with "IHS" inscribed between a cross and heart. The back and exterior are unglazed.
