Sweater

Dr. Michael Ames, former Director of the Museum, purchased this sweater directly from Mrs. Christine Charles of Musqueam in 1954 or 1955. He noted in 1999 that: "Christine was well-known as a sweater knitter."

Hand-knitted Cowichan-style sweater with two buttons, a zipper, and a collar. Bands of matching meandering design at top, bottom and sleeves. Wide triangular designs on top of sleeves and in midle of sweater body. Designs are of dark brown wool in off-white bands; the rest of the wool is a mixture of greys and browns.
