Iconographic meaning

Features an image of a howling wolf. The faience factory in Erfurt (in operation from 1716 to 1792) was well known for its brightly coloured tankards.

Physical description

White, cylindrical earthenware tankard with flared metal mount, loop handle. Pewter lid is high and flat, hinge brace continues down outside of handle and around rim. On the body is a painting of a wolf between two extremely large yellow flowers, green trees.
