Basket

Collected by Mrs. A. C. Whitley. 'Earthline' and 'mountain' design elements may suggest this basket is Nlaka'pamux ? (discussed in Leslie Tepper's, "Earthline and Morning Star", CMC Publication)

Coiled bowl (bifurcated stitches) with pedastal base. Cedar root splint foundation with watch-spring construction. Imbricated design on bowl and repeated on pedastal of solid dark cherry bark band (earthline ?) with checkerboard triangles (mountains ?) in black cherry bark and grass. Top two coil rows of basket are looped.
