History of use
Tsukesage hōmongi, a style of semi-formal kimono and a hybrid of tsukesage and hōmongi ("visiting kimono"). What distinguishes tsukesage and hōmongi are the patterns. Worn by women and could be worn on formal occasions depending on colours and patterns. It is similar to hōmongi ("visiting wear"), but less formal.
Narrative
Kimono set acquired by donor in 1970, while she was involved with missionaries in the village of Ueda; she wore the kimono for special ceremonies while residing in Japan.
