History of use
Basketry filled a vital need as containers for storage domestic use and transportation of goods. Some had multiple uses; others were made for specific functions. After European contact, used for trade and sale items. Forms have been altered to meet European tastes. Basketry making was and is a women's art.

2 ply z-twist twining strawberry weave profile. Decoration; twill (diagonal) twining. Rim is 3 ply twining, s-twist.
Physical description
Circular basket (a) with wide, flaring rim and vertical inner rim between which the lid (b) rests. Base has warps radiating from centre point. Design consists of two concentric bands of light-red on base. Vertical walls are decorated in twill twined orange-brown and green diagonal v pattern. Flaring rim decorated with light brown and green twill twining with outermost portion of rim alternating green and light brown wefts. Rim braided with warps cut off. Lid: circular, alternating light-red and green twining. Rim braided with warps cut off.
