Ceremonial Cane

Cultural context
The apprentice to a medicine man would carve the cane under the tutelage of the senior. The senior medicine man would then imbue the cane with a specific spirit.
Specific techniques
Cane was buried for a year to darken the wood.
Physical description
Carved wooden twin spirit cane. Head is carved to represent two twins standing back to back, with hands resting over their abdomens. Figures have stylized features, including flattened heads, long angular noses and no mouths.
