History of use

Ropes are used in a number of daily tasks including weaving. Woman lash the loom bars to the horizontal ground loom with ropes to stakes driven in the ground.

Specific techniques

Yarns are z spun, plied 2-s and replied 2-z; braided structure is 2:2 oblique interlacing with 5 strands. Rope is begun with folded elements and finished by braiding the lightest colour back on itself. Yarns are a combination of wool and hair.

Physical description

Rope made of braided beige and dark brown wool and hair. One end of the rope finishes with a short section of off-white only.
