Narrative

Collected by Mr. Cesnola. Part of a collection made in Cyprus in 1873 and presented to the Metropolitan Museum for the 1875 opening.

Physical description

Clay bowl with a cream slip; buff on surface, medium-grained clay, slightly gritty to the touch with small white limestone particles and occasional flakes of mica. Black, thin, matt paint. Hemispherical bowl, rounded bottom, large forked wishbone handle attached below rim. Decoration consists of crosshatched bands radiating from the bottom and of subsidiary dots.
