gikamł (Mask)

A chief's mask worn when gifts are given or copper is broken.

This mask was said by the owner to have been made before her birth, and used by her husband's great-great grandmother. She also said the hair used on the mask was hers.

A black mask with pursed lips indicates the mask represents Dzunuk'wa.

Mask with protruding forehead, recessed slit eyes, hooked nose, concave cheeks, temples and pursed lips. Ears are depicted realistically. Colours are black and red.
