Iconographic meaning

Hillary Stewart notes that on the Northwest Coast the eagle is "a symbol of power and prestige...Many myths and legends surround the Eagle; eagle down, a symbol of peace and friendship, was, and still is, sprinkled before guests in welcome dances and on other ceremonial occasions (1979:54)."

Physical description

Small silver bracelet with an engraved eagle design. The eagle head is depicted in the centre of the band with wings spread. Each wing has three feathers. There is a crosshatching behind the eagle's head and between its wings. There is also a set of small triangular designs at the back of band, one on each side. The band fastens at the back with a hook that latches through a rectangular opening.
