A ninety-six page colour comic book titled 'NALA DAMAYANTI'. 'AMAR CHITRA KATHA DIGEST Vol. 507'. Published in 1992 by H. G. Mirchandani, for India Book House Pvt. Ltd. and edited by Anant Pai with art done by Souren Roy. The work is about the story of King Nala's courtship of Damayanti (daughter of King Bheema of Kundanpur) through a swan. Nala's cousin, Pushkara, uses a trick to obtain his crown through gambling so that Nala and Damayanti are exiled into the forest for three years. After helping the serpent god, Nala is transformed into Baahuk. Damayanti has her adventures in the absence of her husband who is learning how to gamble with dice from King Rituparna of Ayodhya. Damayanti flees to Kundanpur to become a maid to Queen Bhanumati where she hears of Baahuk and sends word that she is considering re-marriage so that he comes out to see her. Nala reunites with his children and Damayanta as he transforms back into his normal form with the magic dress from the serpent god. Nala reclaims his throne from his cousin by winning the game of dice.
