Collected by Robert A. Coulter, who was stationed at Kuujjuarpik, 1962-63, as Commanding Officer of the RCAF base (then known as Great Whale River).

Physical description

Stone walrus (part a) with a wooden spear (part b) piercing a hole in its side. The walrus has its head turned to the left, and has carved circular eyes, notched nostrils and two tusks inserted into its mouth - one is glued in, one is loose (part c). The walrus is raised up on its rear flippers. The spear has a fine fibre wrapped around the shaft, toward the handle end. Artist number on base.
