Physical description

Long woven rectangular wall hanging with blue background. A figure stands on a narrow strip of ice, wearing a grey hooded parka, leggings and black boots. The figure holds a harpoon, aiming it at a hole in the ice underneath which swims a grey and black seal. The image is partially outlined by long narrow gaps in the fabric through which light can shine. The rope of the harpoon is embroidered onto the fabric. On the rear of the piece are canvas hanging pockets at top and bottom edges. The bottom has text written in ink, including Inuit script on the left, with the title, date and artist names on the right.
