huipil (Blouse)

Don Jose Garcia Martin and his wife Francisca Diaz Godinez organized the production of the clothing from San Juan Atitan in this collection (accession 2551). They apportioned the work among family members and others known for their skills in the community.

A five-pieced girl's cotton, sleeveless blouse with predominantly red and white vertical stripes. There is multi-coloured brocading across the top various geometric pattern in yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, black and pink on a red ground. The arm and neck holes are stitched with yellow, blue and black thread and the seams are stitched with red and black thread.
