Iconographic meaning
A Bellarmine or Bartmann jug from the Komodienstrasse factory. The coat of arms on the front is that of Amsterdam: a vertical band charged with three saltire crosses. This might indicate the vessel was intended for export.
Physical description
Brown globular stoneware jug (bottle) on tapered flat base, narrow cylindrical neck, high loop handle. Metal hinge on handle. Sprigged designs on body; upper front has a bearded man; beneath are four oval medallions with coats of arms, flowers and leaves.
