About this object

Narrative

Acquired by the donor on a field collecting trip in and around Cuzco, Peru, in 1978.

Physical description

Wool hair tie. Woven cord is long and thin, twisting down its length, made of many strands of dyed wool in red, green, pink and unprocessed tan. Strands are woven to create a pattern of thin horizontal lines alternating red and tan, between edging of pink and green. At somewhat irregular intervals along both edges of the cord are attached small white glass beads.
