History of use
The tradition of regionally distinctive dress is still a feature of some of the remote villages of highland Peru. The costumes are a mixture of Spanish influence with surviving indigenous aspects and materials. These trousers are worn for festivals as well as everyday since most men have only one pair.

Physical description
Over trousers, knee-length, of handspun, hand-woven black and dark brown wool. A wide waistband has an expansion flap at the front. There are three belt-loops. The tapered legs have three seams with a hole in the bottom of both inside seams. The hems are of a different black wool material.
