Wood-working (carving) knife

Narrative

Bill Reid inherited these knives (A7038, A7039, A7040) from his grandfather, Charles Gladstone, in Skidegate. Reid believed they originally came from Charles Edenshaw because Gladstone had inherited Edenshaw's tools.

Physical description

Carving knife made with an antler handle and a short triangular shaped blade consisting of a thick, straight top edge and a sharp, grooved, thin edge. The antler is cylindrical in shape with one end wider then the other. The blade is bound to the handle with copper wire.
