Photo mechanical transfers were part of the printing process in the 1960s whereby an original artwork was photographed by special cameras to produce a high-contrast positive paper photograph, often on a reduced scale from the original.

Black and white image depicting Bill Reid carving a pole with faint images of 5 of his ancestors looking on in the background. Behind the ancestors are images of Haida poles. Signed and dated "Bill Reid - '65".
