History of use

Embroidered kené (all over design). Made and worn by women. Garments traditionally reserved for special occasions. With the introduction of Western-style clothes, traditional garments are now worn less frequently.

Physical description

Brown rectangular fabric sewn with a vertical seam at rear to make a tube. Embroidered on front half only with rectilinear, stepped zig-zag, and cross patterns in tan, red, and yellow. One edge finished (machine-sewn), the other unfinished with an internal black patch.
