Coin, round, with a four-sided hole at the centre, a rim around the outer edge and a centre hole. The obverse has four characters, and the reverse hasone character. Hongwu tongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in Chinese characters on obverse; fu bottom (mintmark), Chinese character on reverse. 8 semi-straight sides; portions of rims missing; centre hole not square; file marks.
