History of use

Reproduction print from the series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji". The original woodblock print series was created by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, and produced c. 1830 to 1832. The series depicted Mount Fuji from a variety of views and locations, sometimes up close and sometimes off in the distance. The date of this reproduction is unknown.

Physical description

Rectangular colour print within a white paper frame. Print is of the construction of several structures. Several different lengths of beams are strapped to the guide rails. One man saws a board, two other men pass supplies. In the background is water, green shrubbery and completed houses against a white sky. There is a box with Japanese writing in the upper left corner. Stamped on the frame back is "Printed in Japan".
