History of use

Used by men in bird hunting. Bow and arrow may metaphorically symbolize the Kewa male, especially the aggressive/war aspects as opposed to reciprocity aspects.

Physical description

An arrow shaft, 94 cm. long, binding to a point, of pitpit (sword grass). The point is bound to the shaft with a 10 cm. wide band of trade cord coated with yellow clay. The point is triple made of three flat bamboo slivers bound to the outside of the shaft, each projecting 10.5 cm. beyond the shaft and 1 cm. wide, tapering to a sharp point, flaring out from the shaft.
