Figure

Physical description

Low-fired pottery with painted accents depicting Adam and Eve and the devil. Adam, on the left side of the object, is the tallest figure represented. He has a large head and a wide neck. His hair, which hangs down his back, and his pupils are painted red-brown. His mouth is agape and he holds his hands upwards as if in shock. His fingers, nipples and a loin cloth around his waist are painted red-brown. Eve is on the right side of the object; she has a wide head and neck. Her hair, pupils, and skirt are painted red-brown. She does not wear a shirt and her belly button is visible. In her left hand she holds an apple up to her mouth; the apple is painted red-brown. The devil is between the two figures. He has horns atop his head and a hunched back and is sitting in the top of an apple tree with many pieces of fruit. The devil and the tree are primarily painted red-brown. The figures stand on top of a rounded mound. The bottom of the object is slightly indented.
