Carving
Physical description
Antler sculpture. An antler is carved in low relief on its convex side, the dark cortex used to colour the images. Background is cut away and so made light in colour. The image of a man in a parka holding a large drum stands at centre, surrounded by a bear, dear, whale, seal, and bird placed along the points of the antler. Behind him is an igloo with smoke rising from the chimney, beneath a winter sun. A separate piece of antler is glued to the concave interior of the sculpture, enabling it to stand.
