Physical description

Small Tigua painting in a decoratively painted frame. The frame is painted white on the inner, front and outer edges. On the front, there are blue, pink and black designs on the white background; the blue and pink are painted in a scalloped pattern and the black is painted in circle motifs. The canvas is formed by a piece of skin stretched and nailed to the back of a wooden frame. The painting itself depicts a man working in vast green fields delineated by rows of white, yellow and pink dots. The man stands slightly left of centre in the fields. The man has pink skin, an orange shirt and a white wide-brimmed hat. He holds a gold-coloured trowel. Behind him, on the right, there is a small hut with a brown roof and wall. Another wall of the structure is white with a gold door bordered door. There are three green-blue mountains in the background set against a blue sky. One of the mountains is snow-peaked. Playing with perspective, the artist has painted black birds sitting atop the roof of the hut and sitting atop one of the mountains. There are also two birds flying. The title of the work and the artist’s name are written in relatively large white letters along the bottom edge of the painting. There is a wire for hanging on the painting that is affixed to the sides of the frame near the top.
