Physical description

Long, shallow, rectangular, brown wood dish that has pointed ends painted with a bird design. Each face has circular abalone shell inlaid eyes surrounded by a carved tapering oval in a black ovoid outline with a pair of plain inverted u forms within black ones that have flat angular tops above at either top side. the outward and inward curving black beak has red nostrils. The open red mouth is showing twenty-four plain rounded teeth. Sixteen rectangular abalone shell inlaid pieces are along the rim, six along each side and two at each end.
