Ornament

The imprint suggests this was suspended by a tie, possibly as a medallion around the neck. Several published accounts of Vicus ceramics show figures wearing neck medallions.

Pre-Columbian, possibly Vicus; 300 B.C.E.-600 C.E. ?

The disc is made of copper and gold and possibly silver. The gold enriched surface layer is the result of deplection gilding or plating.

A metal disc with a single hole 0.4 cm from the edge. Flecks of a gilded layer are visible. There is an impression of a tie in the green deposits between the hole and the edge.
