Small discs like these are mechanically fastened by staples to adornments, like masks and crowns belonging to the Vicus Style (Moseley, pl. XV; Disselhoff and Tushingham, pl.29).

Vicus style, Early Intermediate Period; 300 B.C.E.-200 C.E.

Physical description

A sheet metal disc with a hole near the edge. Fragment of metal, strap-like remains in the hole. Gilded surface.
