Vicus style, Early Intermediate Period, 300 B.C.E. -300 C.E., mace heads were mounted on wooden handles and used as weapons. They are frequently depicted in battle scenes on Moche ceramics. Archaeological examples of this type have come from Vicus (Kauffmann Doig; Lumbreras).

Physical description

A circular metal mace (head only) with green deposit on surface. Central circular collar extends above and below the disc which has a fluted edge.
