History of use
The summer fan, round or folding, can be carried throughout the summer by men or women. The folding fan is seen more often at the theatre or on the street as it can be tucked into the kimono or obi more easily.
Physical description
Folding fan with thirty-two inner ribs of split bamboo and two bamboo parent ribs. One side covered with white paper, the other covered with white paper with a faint blue band at top and bottom; sparkly surface and painted design of two fish in brown and black. Inscription near right edge of three characters in black and two seals in red. Rivet is black plastic.
