Used for drinking palm wine, a cup is one of a man's most personal possessions. Palm wine is a source of shared sociability, libation, and pleasure. A cup would be used over a lifetime for important occasions and ceremonies.

Physical description

Tall cup with a large bowl, narrowing into a cone-like base, with natural wood, and burned incised designs. The rim is burned black with two horizontal incised lines. There are four u forms on the cup bowl with incised squares in each u form. Centre is burned in a solid ring. The cone has five inverted v-shapes burned in two lines with horizontal lines in each 'v'. The base is slightly hollowed underneath. The cup is roughly carved from a single piece of wood.
