Physical description
Byzantine coin of Maurice Tiberius, 582-602. Obverse: bust of Maurice Tiberius, facing front, in consular robes and crown with trefoil ornament; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he holds an eagle-tipped sceptre; to left, inscription is illegible; to right, it says ‘TANPPAVI’. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘ANNO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘IIIϤ’ in a vertical position; above, cross; in exergue, ‘THEϤP’, with a diagonal line after the ‘P’.
