Spindle

About this object

History of use

Manguey spinning requires 2 people. The woman holds the handle and revolves the flat piece. The man stands opposite her and holds the fiber strand firmly in one hand and feeds new fibre onto the end of the strand from a bundle at his feet. With every revolution of the paddle, a twist is given to the strand.
