Iconographic meaning

Represents Crooked Beak of Heaven, Galugwadzawe', one of the servants of Baxbakwalanuxsiwe', cannibal at the north end of the world.

Physical description

Black, white, red and orange thunderbird mask with a long, hooked beak, prominent red nostrils, and a curvilinear cutout in the beak's centre. Cedar bark studded with large black feathers crowns the mask, with additional cedar bark affixed to the rear and bottom edges.
