Narrative

One of a set originally painted in a spiral drawing book while Mungo Martin was in a Vancouver hospital in 1951.

Physical description

Profile image of a sea eagle. The face resembles an eagle with a hooked yellow beak. The body has distinguishable feathers on the wings underneath the head, a large tail feather, and a foot with long sharp black talons. There is a yellow, black and white eye design attached to the talons. Three smaller eagle images with yellow hooked beaks are on the top of the larger eagle face, on the top of the wing, and on the top of the tail feather. Also on the top of the tail feather is the head of a whale. The body of the whale arches backwards up the spin of the larger eagle and extends to the head. There are scale-like designs the length of the body. Original image has been cut out and glued onto mat board. The mat board has been attached to a burlap covered board. Handwritten inscription on lower right corner reads: "Sea Eagle-Kwľ Kwľ."
