Physical description

Print depicts a small town to one side and an open grassy area on the other. There are trees separating the two spaces. A person leads a donkey(?) up the path. There are trees against a blue and grey sky in the background. Print is of Oiso Station (#8). This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy," from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: "OISO The sea, viewed from the hills, is glittering white. Though it rains aslant from a dark yellow sky, the rains look warm, as is natural at Oiso where the weather is mild." There are Japanese characters on the top, side, and bottom of the printed message.
