Model Totem Pole

Belonged to James M. Traill's father. Possibly received as gift while touring canneries in 1932.

Dzunuk'wa may represent a chief wearing a Dzunuk'wa mask and the face between his legs may represent a slave being crushed at a pole raising.

Painted model pole. At the top is Sisiutl, Thunderbird with whale crest, whale, bear, killer whale, wolf, Dzunuk’wa and a face between the feet on the base in red, green and black on wooden ground. Painted on the base is ‘Charlie James Yakeglas, Alert Bay’. Painted thunderbird wing is part b; painted whale fins are parts c-d. There is an inscription written in pen on the back, and a label on the bottom.
