Placed in a prominent place in the house for protection against unwelcoming forces, possibly a chache inside the beam. Usually deposited after a ritual ceremony performed by Daoist practitioners.
Physical description
Hanger shape on coin, round hole at top, square hole at centre of coin, inner and outer rims, four characters on both sides; hanger at top with design, four characters, around centre hole on obverse; design in hanger, four characters, around centre hole on reverse.
