Round, 4-sided hole in centre, rims around outer edge and centre hole, obverse 4 characters, crescent on reverse. Kaiyuan tongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in orthodox Chinese characters on obverse; sideways crescent (bottom) on reverse. Irregular centre hole; outer rim partly removed; rim flaws.
