Hat

Worn by Hmong children during New Year festivities.

Hat with stepped rectangular sides that create open spaces at the top in the shape of diamonds. Hat is black with red border and red upside-down "T" shaped appliques on either side. On side is decorated with embroidered green and yellow swirls, and the other side has embroidered green, yellow, and blue geometric patterns. The front of the hat has a thick seam with horizontal red, white, black and green stripes.
