Narrative

Dr. Sydney Friedman and his wife Dr. Constance Friedman were acquainted for many years with Haida artist, Bill Reid, whom they commissioned to make gold and silver jewellery, between the early 1950s and 1974.

Physical description

The jewelry box that held the pendant and chain, 2923/10 a-b. The satin pillow inside the lid has "Bill Reid" monogrammed across it, in gold lettering. The lower bed area is of grey velvet. The outside top of the brown box shows a wolf head design in gold. A small metal push-button clasp at lower front clips the lid closed.
