From the collection of the missionary Thomas Crosby, who worked in various places on the Northwest Coast of B.C. from 1863 to 1907.

Physical description

Square lantern slide made of two pieces of glass, one with the image painted on it, the other clear, held together by a ‘frame’ of black paper tape. The colour, circular image shows an elderly woman in shawl and apron sitting in a high-backed chair next to a fireplace, a round table beside her with a book open on top. Rows of plates are attached to the wall behind her. First slide of a series of nine. Label: "W.C. Hughes / Optician / 151 Hoxton St. N. London" and a paper label in one corner with a large green number "1".
