Octopus Bag

About this object

Narrative

Diane Anderson purchased the bag from a gallery in Ontario in 1989.

Physical description

Octopus type bag. Small bag is rectangular in shape, with four 'tentacle' extensions at the bottom that are split in two and lined with blue and cream plaid fabric. Bag and extensions are densely covered in glass beading in flower and foliage patterns on both sides; some of the beads are one-cut beads, and there is a small floral area on one side done in metal beads. The extensions have multicoloured fabric pom poms hanging from their scalloped tips. Translucent beads line the outer edges. The bag is lined in plaid fabric, and a red braided string with decorative pom pom is threaded through the velvet panels at the top opening.
